Tomaso Schena, a local artist with a big following, died suddenly on Friday, May 5 in Newton, according to the City of Haverhill Mayor's Office.
Images of Schena's art, all made in his signature, colorful style, spread across Facebook in the days after his passing.
"Tomaso Schena seemed to illustrate everyone within a 50+ mile radius of Haverhill during his very short life," said one Facebook post memorializing the artist.
Schena had connections throughout Haverhill, Newton, and New Hampshire, keeping local homes, businesses, and restaurants stocked with his art.
Fans and friends are pouring out financial support as well as emotional, donating thousands of dollars to a GoFundMe created for Schena's funeral arrangements.
"He left a special place in everyone's heart that he came in contact with," the GoFundMe campaign read. "With Tomaso's sudden passing, we are asking the community for help with the arrangements to lay him to rest."
Schena, who was from Exeter, New Hampshire, will be memorialized through a service held on Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home in Plaistow, New Hampshire.
